TAPT State Qualifiers

Clifton High School students Pepper Mayfield and Riley Ball competed at this year's Texas Association for Pupil Transportation (TAPT) School Bus Safety State Speech Contest on Monday, April 22.

The annual TAPT School Bus Safety Speech Contest provides an opportunity for high school students to prepare and present an original oration to convey the given school bus safety topic for the year. Students compete for a chance at one of 12 prizes from $200 - $1,000. The overall 1st Place winner will present his or her speech at the annual TAPT Conference and Trade show in June. This year's theme is, "Driving Safely Into the Future!".

Clifton High School is excited to announce that Pepper Mayfield won first place in her division while Riley Ball won her division as well as the overall competition!!! This is the second consecutive year for CHS to have the overall State winner! Last year's State winner was Sophie Ritzmann. We are so proud of these young ladies for how they represent our school and community.  Riley will present her speech at the TAPT State Conference in June.  She wins a $1000 scholarship while Pepper brought home $600.

A special thanks goes out to Mrs. Gaye Lynn Seawright for providing this opportunity to our high school students. Mrs. Seawright and the entire CHS staff play a vital role on our campus to provide students with a multitude of opportunities outside the classroom, giving them a well-rounded education. This contest is just one example of the many activities in which our students are involved.

Keep up the great work!
