#TeamCISD Families and Community,

If you were at our high school football scrimmage last Thursday night, you witnessed firsthand our district’s newest safety feature—the Perry Weather Lightning Detector, Weather Monitoring and Alerting System. This is an on-site weather station mounted on top of the Cub Stadium press box that delivers precise data and instant alerts. It takes the guess work out of monitoring weather conditions, including lightning strikes, during school and school events. Once lightning is detected in range, as it was during our scrimmage, a siren sounds, an announcement is made and the 30-minute return-to-play timer starts. If another lightning strike is detected in range, the timer resets. This alert system not only allows us to take the actions necessary to keep our #TeamCISD students, staff and spectators safe during sporting events in the stadium, it will also be actively monitoring until 10:00 p.m. each night to help protect our #TeamCISD students and staff during all outdoor practices, as well as our families and community members who may be walking on the track, attending a youth football event in the stadium or an activity at the baseball or softball fields.
