"It’s the Great Pumpkin!”

CES Hosts  Annual Fall Open House & Family Fun  Night

A special thanks goes out to the Clifton Elementary School’s PTO for contributing 600 pumpkins to our Fall Open House & Family Fun Night scheduled for Monday, October 24th, at 5:00 - 6:45 PM. Each student who attends this special event will be able to select a pumpkin to carve or paint and display at their home. Until then, be sure to check out the colorful display of pumpkins at Clifton Elementary. Once again  CES PTO, you are all AMAZING! Thank you for supporting our student activities and helping make learning FUN!

This year’s Family Fun Night will have lots of fun activities free of charge to CES students and families. Each grade level will be hosting a special fall activity on their hallway which includes cornhole, pumpkin bowling, face painting, candy corn estimation, pumpkin  golf, karaoke, and much more. CES students, be sure to pick-up your punch card at our sign-in table on your way in to receive a special goodie bag on your way out.

This year’s event will also have a dunking booth where students, parents, and staff get the opportunity to dunk Dr. Brown. All proceeds from the dunking booth will support special service projects that CES students will be doing throughout the  school year. $1 donations will allow three throws to hit the bullseye and “Dunk the Doc”. The dunking booth will be open 5:00- 6:30 PM and will be located outside by the CES playground.

The Clifton Police Department will also be on site to conduct child car-seat safety checks for our CES families and community members. The Clifton Volunteer Fire Department will be with their equipment on display for students and family to see.

Two of Clifton’s own local restaurants, Breaking Bread Deli and Los Verdes Mexican Restaurant, will also be serving a couple of dinner plate options (while supplies last) in the CES cafeteria for families to purchase a quick meal while at the Fall Open House and Family Fun Night.

To close out this year’s event, CES will be hosting a “free” special community program at the CISD PAC at 7:00 PM. This event will feature Dr. Jesse Joyner, aka “Jesse the Juggler”! Jesse is one of the few people in the world who have completed a marathon while juggling.  He has also juggled a running chainsaw while managing to keep all toes, fingers, and limbs.  Yet neither his wife nor one of his prospective life insurance underwriters liked that feat.

Jesse learned how to juggle 3 beanbags from his friend Tim when he was 11 years old. He loved the challenge so much that he got every book he could from the library about juggling.  Then one day in high school, some classmates found out Jesse could juggle and they convinced him to perform in the variety show – and Jesse was thrilled that people actually clapped for machete juggling and ladder balancing.  One thing led to the next, and soon Jesse found himself street performing in Jerusalem, sharing a stage line-up with comedian Sinbad, and being employed as an entertainer for Paramount Parks.  His credits have included television, radio, a halftime show for the Washington Mystics, and some gold and silver medals at the World Joggling Championships (running and juggling at the same time). He has had the privilege of performing for audiences in over 35 states and on 3 continents.

Jesse graduated from Taylor University in Upland, Indiana  and from Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore, Kentucky, studying the Bible and pastoral ministry. He then completed a PhD in Educational Studies at Trinity International University in Deerfield, Illinois.

Now, Jesse continues to travel with his show, doing about 150 presentations a year. He cherishes his time at home with his family – Sarah, his wife, and their three children (two girls and a boy). Sometimes, Sarah and the kids travel with Jesse to his shows, but other times they like to just hang out at home. Sarah is a professional counselor (LPC) in the Richmond, Virginia area where the Joyners make their home.  Jesse’s other interests include fixing up their 1919 home in Richmond’s Northside neighborhood of Laburnum Park, playing the piano, and playing games with his family.

So, come out for all the FUN and be sure to stick around for Jesse the Juggler, Monday, October 24th, 5-8:00 PM.
