Spring is a great time for students and families to get focused on healthy living! Now that the warmer weather is a bit more consistent, now is the time to get outside and active. The Healthy Kids Running Series here in Clifton  is a GREAT way to do that!

This health initiative was founded in 2009 to combat increasing rates of childhood obesity in America. The goal was to design a running program that provides a fun environment and builds self-esteem. One that might  encourage kids to adopt a “Get Up and Go” attitude.

Healthy Kids Running Series is a national, community-based non-profit that provides a fun, inclusive five-week running series for ages 2-14, designed for kids to get active, feel accomplished and lay the foundation for a healthy lifestyle. The program's founder, Jeff Long, used his own background as a collegiate runner and sports marketing guru to help set the course as the programs continues to power forward with all new community locations, including Clifton, Texas, as well as a growing team of volunteers and sponsors, and an unwavering commitment to happy, healthy kids all over the country.

Clifton is a proud supporter of this health initiative and has established its very own Healthy Kids Running Series. This year’s series begins Sunday, March 27th. The series will run through May 1st with events taking place every Sunday, at 3:00 PM, except Easter. All events will be held at the Clifton City Park at 401 East 2nd Street in Clifton. The cost for the full five-week series id $40, or $10 per race. Children will participate in races from a 50 yard dash to a 1 mile run based on age divisions for each race. Points will be based on finish and the runners with the most points after the final race will win trophies. Full-Series participants will receive Tech T-shirts.
