2024 - 2025 Registration
Every child in Texas has the right to a free public education. A parent (or other person standing in parental relation to a child) may
enroll the child in school in the district in which he or she lives or enroll in another option, such as a charter school.
Compulsory attendance applies to students who are at least six years old as of September 1 of the applicable school year. For more information on enrollment and compulsory attendance, please see Texas Education Code (TEC), Chapter 25.
To enroll in a public school a parent/legal guardian will:
- Locate your resident school district (can be found via the appraisal district of your county's website or by visiting TEA's school district lookup page https://tea.texas.gov/texas-schools/general-information/school-district-locator )
- Provide residency documentation to the district for enrollment requirements which can be a utility bill, lease agreement or similar documents
- Have your child's immunization record showing all state required immunizations (or provide a valid exemption from the immunization requirements)
Clifton ISD host in-person registration prior to the start of the fall semester with both paper and online components at the Clifton High School.
The State of Texas provides free pre-kindergarten for
eligible students. To be eligible for enrollment in a free prekindergarten class, a child must be four years of age on or before September 1 of the current school year and meet at least one of the following eligibility requirements
(Statute: TEC §29.153 (b)) :
- unable to speak and comprehend the English language
- is educationally disadvantaged (eligible to participate in the national school lunch program... guidelines about NSLP eligibility can be found in sections 4 and 6 of the Texas Department of Agriculture’s Administrators Reference Manual)
- is homeless, as defined by 42 USC, §11434a, regardless of the residence of the child, of either parent of the child, or of the child's guardian or other person having lawful control of the child
- is the child of an active duty member of the armed forces of the United States, including the state military forces or a reserve component of the armed forces, who is ordered to active duty by proper authority
- is the child of a member of the armed forces of the United States, including the state military forces or a reserve component of the armed forces, who was injured or killed while serving on active duty
- is or has ever been in the conservatorship of the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (foster care) following an adversary hearing held as provided by Family Code §262.201 or has been in foster care in another state or territory, but currently lives in Texas
- is the child of a person eligible for the Star of Texas Award as:
