School Closure Extended

#TeamCISD Families and Community,

I have received notification that a patient that was screened at our local hospital has tested positive for COVID-19 (Coronavirus). Although the individual does not reside in Clifton, that does not change the fact that the virus has arrived in our community. That realization, along with many other factors, including multiple new confirmed cases in nearby counties, as well as recommendations from local, state and federal officials, have led us to make the difficult decision to close Clifton ISD through Friday, April 3rd.

Just as with the decision to close this week, closing school does not come without sacrifice, tears, heartache and regret; however, we’ve been told the next two weeks in Texas is critical in slowing the spread of COVID-19 and I feel closing school is the best decision at this time for our #TeamCISD students, staff, families and community.

We will continue to provide daily free meals for our #TeamCISD students, as well as providing instructional support during the duration of our closure. Campus leaders and teachers will be contacting you with details for instructional support.

As you all continue to experience this with us, you understand it is a situation that is evolving and changing very quickly. As of today, Thursday, March 19, 2020, Clifton ISD plans to resume classes on Monday, April 6, 2020. We will continue to monitor this situation and make any adjustments to our plans as needed. Thank you for your patience, understanding, flexibility and support throughout this health crisis.
