Coronavirus Update

#TeamCISD Families and Community,

Although there are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) in Bosque County, with today’s statement from Gov. Greg Abbott declaring a statewide public health disaster for all Texas counties, the University Interscholastic League canceling all activities, and along with guidance from the Texas Education Agency concerning families self-reporting that they have traveled to areas with confirmed cases, the difficult decision to close all Clifton ISD schools and facilities from March 16-20th has been made. However, the superintendent’s office will be open, as well as each campus administration office, if you need to speak to someone or pick up something for your child, such as medicine, for the extended break.

I know school closure will create challenges for all families and that sacrifices will be shared by everyone involved. Please know this decision was very difficult and was based on many factors, some known and some unknown. Though difficult, closing school can be a proactive measure to help protect our students and staff as much as possible. I also view it as a way to help protect families from the spread of the virus if their child or grandchild were to be exposed while at school.

Even though we will be closed next week, we are still required to commit to providing a certain degree of instruction to students while at home, whether that be through online learning or workbooks. As we work through that process, more information will be available. We will also soon have information available on continuing to provide meals to students that qualify.

As you have all experienced, this situation is evolving very quickly and available information changes just as quickly and I will pass it along as I get it. As of today, Friday, March 13, 2020, Clifton ISD plans to resume classes on Monday, March 23, 2020. We will continue to monitor this situation and make any adjustments to our plan as needed. Thank you for your support, understanding, flexibility and help as we all work through this together.
