Coronavirus Response

#TeamCISD families and community,

As most of you have undoubtedly read or heard, colleges and universities across the state and nation, are adjusting classes in response to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. Some K-12 schools in areas with confirmed cases have also closed; however, none in our immediate area.

As of today, Thursday, March 12, 2020, we have no plan to close Clifton ISD, extend spring break or begin online instruction. However, that could change quickly as more information becomes available, so please plan on being flexible with us. As school resumes next week from spring break, we will focus on student and staff health and safety through continual disinfection of campuses, facilities and buses, as well as reminding students and staff to follow CDC recommendations on reducing the spread of the virus, including washing their hands thoroughly and using hand sanitizer.

While we have not received guidance from the UIL or any other student-activity governing body regarding contests or performances, the Texas School Safety Center has shared guidance for districts that may be considering closing, including certain criteria to consider that could "trigger" closure. These triggers are: 1) multiple community transmission (locally acquired) virus cases in your county or a nearby county, 2) One or more community transmission (locally aquired) confirmed cases in a student or staff member of a school campus or district or 3) multiple community transmission (locally acquired) cases reported within a certain (25, 50 or X mile) radius of the school district. We have not received any directives ftom TEA or any local, state or federal officials that recommends closing schools prior to any local cases but if we do, any and all directives and recommendations will be followed.

Please know we will continue to monitor this ever-changing situation and keep you all updated. Thank you all for your understanding, support, flexibility and help as we work through this together.  I will post information and updates on our social media platforms. If you have any questions, please contact me. AB
